Citrus Lemongrass

BevNET Review: There aren’t too many drinks out there that use lemongrass (it’s a strong flavor), but this one works really well. Using a five-ingredient formulation that consists of orange juice, apple juice, coconut water, lemon juice, and lemongrass extract, this product has extremely straightforward flavor. If there’s any flaw to it, it’s that the lemongrass is strong enough that it starts to overpower your palate as you drink the bottle. Packaging is the bigger issue for this product, with a 15.2 oz. PET bottle that’s extremely hard on the eyes. There’s a lot of text on the label, which, in turn, makes it hard to distinguish this product from some of their others (it looks almost identical to the Reduced Calorie Lychee flavor). For a product that’s made with only five ingredients, a minimalist approach would certainly fare better. In its current form, we expected a laundry list of ingredients (maybe some stevia and gums?) to be in this product. Overall, it has nice taste, but the packaging needs serious rethinking.Reviewed on: 9/23/2011

Reduced Calorie Lychee

BevNET Review: Made with lychee, coconut water, peach, mango, orange, and apple juices, Naked’s Reduced Calorie Lychee drink is an enjoyable tasting product. There’s a decent amount of coconut water flavor to the drink, followed by notes of mango, peach, and lychee. The other fruit flavors provide the backdrop, but are not as easy to distinguish from the mixture. Despite being reduced calorie, this product is still quite sweet, having 200 calories and 40g of sugar (all of it coming from the fruit) per bottle. In terms of packaging, the 15.2 oz bottle looks smaller than it actually is (perhaps due to the shape and size of the label?). In typical Naked Juice form, they’ve made what could be a nice looking front panel into a cluttered disaster of repetitive text (“reduced calorie” is mentioned three times, for example). Trimming it considerably would be a start, but the bigger issue is that leading with “reduced calorie” is something that implies that the flavor is not as good (we were expecting some stevia, too). In any event, what’s inside the bottle is definitely some of Naked’s better work, but we think this product is too easy to pass over due to the sub par packaging. Reviewed on: 9/23/2011

Chai Spiced Cider

BevNET Review: Made with just three ingredients: apple juice, apple puree, and natural flavors, Naked Juices Chai Spiced Cider is one of the simplest Naked Juice introductions that we've seen in a while. The chai spice gives the product an extra dimension of flavor, with notes of cinnamon and clove. Spiced apple juice is a decent concept, albeit a niche one, and we certainly could not imagine ourselves consuming this product on a regular basis. That's especially the case when you consider that each bottle has 240 calories. Packaging is just okay for us, with a lot of stuff covering the front panel of the standard Naked Juice bottle. They've put images of apples, cinnamon sticks, and ginger on the front, but it's jumbled in such a way that youd be hard pressed to pick out these elements if you were quickly scanning a cooler. And at this point, there are so many Naked Juice flavors that it would be quite hard to pick this flavor out of the lineup. Overall, Naked has done something clever with the flavor, but they haven't carried this over to the look of the product. Reviewed on: 11/23/2009

100% Pomegranate

BevNET Review: Why Naked Juice is releasing a 100 percent pomegranate juice well after pomegranate juice hit its peak, we not quite sure. In terms of flavor, it's exactly what we'd expect from pasteurized pomegranate juice -- tart, sweet, and slightly bitter at the finish. The result is, according to Naked, the equivalent of eating 4 and 1/3 pomegranates, although the connection to antioxidant benefits is loosely described on the back panel. On the packaging front, this is a standard issue Naked Juice product, and the biggest risk is simply blending in with the countless other flavors that are part of this brand. Overall, it's decent technical execution, but a really late entry to the category.Reviewed on: 2/17/2009

Acai Machine

BevNET Review: Acai Machine is an aptly named drink, packing the equivalent of 178 acai berries into each bottle. It's noticeable from the very heavy, tart acai flavor. Also in this no-sugar added mix are grape, apple, banana, and plum puree/juices, which add some depth and thickness to the drink. Plus, it has the equivalent of over three servings of fruit. While it's a very drinkable flavor, it's a bit too thick for our liking; it's harder to drink than some of the other acai drinks that are out there. Still, this is definitely one of the better Naked entries in recent memory. Packaging is the classic Naked bottle, which has a very busy front panel and is, again, not as attractive as some of their competitors. Reviewed on: 2/13/2009

Protein Zone: Chocolate Banana

BevNET Review: As far as protein drinks go, this one is up there in terms of taste. The product has a rich and creamy chocolate body, followed by a slight hint of banana to the finish. Other ingredients in the product include 30g of whey protein, white grape juice (filler and sweetener), and a touch of coconut milk. We'd love to see a bit more of the coconut flavor, which would most likely complement the cocoa and banana flavors quite nicely. Packaging is bright and colorful, but the purple color doesn't really gel with the chocolate and banana that make up this drink (brown or black would be our choice). Otherwise, this is a very enjoyable and refreshing approach to a protein drink -- especially since the drink could stand up as a traditional smoothie based on flavor alone.Reviewed on: 5/16/2008

BevNET Review: While this product is thick enough to make us think that maybe it should’ve come in a squeeze bottle, it’s mighty tasty. Loading every possible purple fruit – including “superfood” Acai into a bottle creates a powerful beverage conceit, one that this product ably fills. The flavor is with actual strawberry flavor, although the apple juice used as the main ingredient can dominate the mix at times. Orange Mango Motion

BevNET Review: Like drinking a mango. There is a lot of fruitiness to this thick smoothie, one of the first to combine energy ingredients like guarana and green tea extract with Naked’s regular blend of juices. Whether or not the caffeine takes us higher – and at 43 mg, it’s about on par with a diet soda – the flavor sure does. It’s hard to tell if the world is clamoring for what is essentially a caffeinated fruit juice, but if there are people out there who are, we think they got it right the first time. BevNET Review: If you love sweet, tart juices, this is the product for you. Pomegranate Blueberry blends two strongly flavored fruit juices -- as well as some "filler" juices -- to create this fruity concoction. Flavors of pomegranate and blueberry are easily distinguishable in this product, which is always a plus for super-premium juices. The downside is the sweetness -- this stuff is strong. It's noticeably sweeter than blueberries and pomegranates naturally are, which means that the filler-juices have had an impact. We'd like it a bit more if it were toned down. BevNET Review: Unlike so many carrot juice drinks out there, Naked's Just Carrot is, well, just carrot. This drink packs in a pound of carrot into one bottle. If Bugs Bunny has a favorite beverage, then this is surely it. The drink contains 690% of the vitamin A RDI per serving, that's 1380% per bottle. BevNET Review: Mighty Mango is a really smooth, smoothie. The drink contains a number of juices/purees, including apple, pear, mango (duh), orange, banana, and lemon. This drink has a nice tart edge to it. The only problem we have with it is that it is not true the flavor of mango. Good mango juice simply is not this tart. BevNET Review: Protein Zone manages to pack 34 grams of protein into the slend 15.2 oz bottle. That's the perfect amount for the serious athlete looking to rebuild muscles after a tough work out. The drink gets its protein from soy and whey isolates. We have to warn you; this drink has powdery mouthfeel. But most serious protein seekers will welcome this as a sign of good stuff inside. Also found in Protein Zone are orange, apple, pear, banana, and pineapple juices/purees. Perhaps the best twist to this drink is its coconut milk. BevNET Review: Berry Blast is a "burst of 5 fruits and antioxidants". It has apple and pear juice base with banana puree to smooth it out. After that you strawberry, blackberry and raspberry purees. A bit much of the banana comes through in its aroma, but its taste is very berry. The drink contains a whopping 300% of the vitamin E RDI and also delivers 210% of the recommended vitamin C.
