Tranquila Original Relaxation Shot

The “Original” formula of Tranquila comes in a “green tea lemon” flavor, which is free of both sugar and calories. The flavor is actually quite pleasing to drink, with the acidity of the lemon flavor and earthiness of the green tea helping to mask the product’s functional ingredients and artificial sweetener. From a functionality point of view, the product relies on gamma amino butyric acid (aka GABA) as well as other vitamins and herbal extracts. In many ways, the ingredients used, especially the vitamins, aren’t all that different from what we’ve become accustomed to seeing in energy shots. The same can be said for the packaging. What we’re getting at is this: the concept and functionality that Tranquila is trying to sell and what consumers might perceive this product to be are somewhat at odds. It’s one of those situations where this bottle has become so established for energy products that marketing something with a new function is going to be a challenge. Otherwise, the concept seems good and one that, at least compared against energy products, certainly keeps your mood mellow. The rest of the claims, which include boosting the immune system, combating stress and anxiety, and supporting relaxation, are a bit harder to gauge. And that’s what ultimately makes this a harder product to sell than fast acting energy products. Overall, we like the taste and concept, but it seems like this product would be better off distancing itself from the energy category a bit more than it has.
