Report: Pepsi Closing In on Poppi Acquisition

PepsiCo is close to acquiring prebiotic soda brand Poppi in a deal valued at over $1.5 billion, according to a report published in Bloomberg this morning, citing sources with knowledge of the matter.

The report confirmed that Pepsi has pulled the plug on its bid to enter the prebiotic soda space through the Soulboost brand, as first reported on BevNET in December 2024.

First launched as Mother, an apple cider vinegar-based health drink, Poppi has evolved into a leader in the red-hot modern soda space, alongside Olipop. The two brands generated over $1 billion in sales between them last year.

Should the deal go through, Pepsi would be positioned to compete in the category alongside fellow beverage giants Coca-Cola (Simply Pop) and Keurig Dr Pepper (Bloom).
