Diet 7UP to be sweetened with Splenda

Dallas, TX — Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages has announced that Diet 7UP will become the first leading diet lemon-lime carbonated soft drink to be reformulated with SPLENDA Brand Sweetener. Starting May 23, Diet 7UP sweetened with SPLENDA will hit store shelves nationwide.

“We are excited to be the first and only diet lemon-lime carbonated soft drink to make the switch,” said Randy Gier, Executive Vice President of Marketing, Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages. “Inspired by our consumers, Diet 7 UP sweetened with SPLENDA stays true to our great lemon-lime flavor, but also meets the needs of our calorie-conscious consumers.”

Diet 7 UP sweetened with SPLENDA Brand Sweetener is the latest new product offering within the Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages portfolio.

“We’ve seen significant volume gains on the 7 UP business since the introduction of 7UP PLUS – a breakthrough new soft drink made with real fruit juice, calcium and sweetened with SPLENDA,” said Kelli Freeman, Vice President of Marketing, for 7UP. “By reformulating Diet 7 UP with SPLENDA, we’re providing our consumers with the diet lemon-lime soft drink they’ve been asking for.”

Marketing support for the Diet 7UP reformulation will include a promotion to kick off the summer months, as well as a commercial in June.

Diet 7UP sweetened with SPLENDA will be available beginning May 23, 2005, everywhere Diet 7UP is sold. In addition to Diet 7UP with SPLENDA, Cadbury Schweppes Americas Beverages offers several other products sweetened with SPLENDA, including 7 UP PLUS, Diet Rite, and a number of Diet Snapple flavors, including the newly introduced Diet Lemonade Iced Tea and Diet Plum-A-Granate Tea. Diet Rite was the first carbonated beverage to use SPLENDA.
