Ayu: Peach Acai

Of the Ayu Herbal Infusions line of beverages, the Peach Acai variety is the best of the bunch that we sampled. Unfortunately, it is still in need of flavor work, with the peach and acai flavors being lost amongst the stronger herbal flavors that are also part of this drink. Honestly, this is the type of product and flavor that would be better used in a shot rather than a full ready to drink product. It’s hard to imagine any meaningful consumer base for a product that is this heavy on spice and herbal flavors. On the packaging front, there’s a lot to be improved upon, with a text heavy label that utilizes multiple fonts and colors to the point of having that “this must taste medicinal” and amateurish look to it. The company behind this definitely needs to consider that this is a food product first and foremost. And as it stands, the packaging and flavor of this product -- and the rest of the Ayu flavors -- simply can’t stand up against the countless other products in the natural foods channel.
