Review: Raw Local Honey - 2014
(Last Updated: Sep 10, 2014 at 11:31 AM)Deluxe Honeydrop’s Raw Local Honey beverage is a blend of water, organic lemons, local raw honey and organic cayenne pepper. As the front of the label points out, this product drinks very much like one of the “cleanse” varieties that you’ll find among many cold pressed juice brands. However, instead of agave or maple syrup, this one is all about honey. Honestly, this seems like a much better approach, both in terms of marketability and flavor. And it definitely delivers a ton of flavor, with tart, sweet, and spicy notes that come together to make something that’s extremely enjoyable. Still, given the emphasis on honey in the branding, we wish that the flavor of the honey was a bit more pronounced than it currently is. Otherwise, this is a really nice tasting product, assuming you don’t mind lingering heat. On the packaging front, the product comes in a 10 oz. plastic bottle that is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. However, there seems to be a disconnect between the brand name (in very small font at the top), the words "Raw Local Honey" (big letters in the middle), and the cold-pressed cleanse text at the bottom. We feel as though the company should make this a bit more connected to one another as this would simplify things greatly for the consumer. Overall, we like the honey-first approach of this product, and it’s definitely a very nice approach to the HPP juice category.
