Review: Raw Manuka Honey - 2014
(Last Updated: Sep 10, 2014 at 11:31 AM)This product is a blend of organic apples, organic ginger, organic lemon and Manuka honey. The primary flavors in this product are the apple and the ginger. Having both apples and honey, it’s a pretty sweet tasting product, but the spice from the ginger and the splash of lemon juice definitely help mellow things out. Plus, we love that the heat from the ginger lingers for a while. All in all, this is a very enjoyable tasting product, and we preferred this variety slightly more than its counterpart. Nutritionally, the product has 110 calories, 25g of sugar, 6g of fiber, 4g of protein, vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium and iron. Plus, it’s made with Manuka honey, which comes from New Zealand, giving it a slightly exotic angle to it as well. From a visual perspective, the product definitely presents itself nicely as a super-premium, honey-based product and, given the company's choice of bottle, it’s pretty obvious that this fits into the HPP juice category. We really like the approach of making the brand all about honey as it’s certainly a nice point of differentiation versus what’s already out there. However, we do feel as though the company could tie everything together a bit better. As it stands right now, the small company logo, the Raw Manuka Honey, and the cold-pressed callout don’t feel as though they go together. Lastly, we were somewhat surprised at how much the company downplayed the Deluxe Honeydrop brand (it’s honestly not clear what the brand name is supposed to be). Overall, we absolutely love the liquid and the concept, but we wish that the branding and labeling were a bit more refined.
