Evolution Fresh: Organic Avocado Greens

The concept of using avocado in high pressure processed (HPP) juice beverages is still fairly new, but this product is a great showcase for how enjoyable this ingredient can be. The USDA Organic product, which also includes pineapple, orange, celery, cucumber, spinach, turmeric, romaine, kale, ginger and parsley juices as well as coconut water and chia powder, has a lot going on in terms of flavor. The avocado, which gives the product a smooth and slightly creamy background note of flavor, effectively serves the role that banana so often plays in smoothie beverages. From there, there’s a slightly tart note (and some sweetness) from the orange and pineapple followed by some zing from the mixture of turmeric, ginger, and greens. Ultimately, it’s the depth of flavor that would keep us coming back for more. Packaging and branding was clearly designed to fit in with the rest of the Evolution lineup, but this is also one of the first products in the line to feature its refreshed label design. It’s cleaner and easier on the eyes, having eliminated some lines across the top (they were definitely a distraction). While it’s nice looking, we’d definitely like to see a mention of chia and coconut water on the front panel -- these are certainly very marketable ingredients. Overall, we greatly enjoyed this product and appreciate the company's desire to innovate.
