Genius Coconut Smoothies: Original Coconut Smoothie (New Packaging 2015)

The latest version of Genius Juice’s flagship product has undergone changes to both its packaging and formulation. The USDA Organic product is now made with only two ingredients, organic coconut water and organic coconut meat (it used to also have coconut milk). The product is still high pressure processed (HPP) rather than pasteurized. From a taste perspective, it’s pretty similar to what we remember. The product is rich and viscous, with a full-bodied coconut flavor from start to finish. It’s lightly sweet from the natural sugars in the coconut water/milk, which is certainly a nice approach instead of adding sweetener. Nutritionally, each 12 oz. bottle has 15 grams of sugars, 12g of fat, and 240 calories -- so there’s some sustenance to this stuff. Speaking of packaging, the 12 oz. round bottle is a nice change from the square bottles that the company had previously used in both 8 and 16 oz. sizes. Plus, this seems like a nice middle ground where it’s not too small or too big. Genius Juice has also improved the graphics, which now have a lot more visual pop to them, but still maintain the character of the original design. It definitely feels like a more polished and intuitive product. Overall, a very nice upgrade for Genius’ Juice's flagship product.
