Goldenhive: Black Tea

Goldenhive is a micro-brewed tea that is made with organic tea, unrefined Northwest honey and lemon juice. The flavor is simple and straightforward, with a smooth but bold base of black tea and loads of honey flavor. Despite there being a strong honey flavor, there isn’t much in the way of sweetness, with the entire bottle having only 16g of sugars. That said, we really like what they’ve created, which uses raw honey as both a flavoring and a sweetener. It’s a really enjoyable and unique flavor profile that is quite well executed. Packaging is a stock 16 oz. glass bottle with a white label around the middle and a plain gold cap. The text heavy design is clean and well-executed to the point where it feels like a credible and professional product. However, it seems to be lacking personality or something to connect with the consumer. Given the competition in this space, we think that will be critical if the brand tries to push outward beyond Portland, Ore. (the company's home market). Fortunately, we think the brand name is good and there are probably a bunch of ways to make this happen without straying too far from the identity that the product currently has. Overall, we really like the flavor of this product and feel as though it could, with some further development of the brand, have some potential.
