BevNET Review

Guru’s Organic Sparkling Lime Energy Water is a zero-calorie energy drink that is USDA Organic certified. The product, which contains 100mg of caffeine (via green tea extract) per 12 oz. can, uses erythritol and stevia to provide a slight sweetness to the product. This is, at least from our perspective, something that makes it less like a water and more like a light soda-style flavor. The sweetness became more apparent as we continued to consume the product and the lemon (from added lemon juice) and lime flavors started to become more intense. Still, for what it is, it’s definitely not a bad flavor. We do, however, think that the messaging should be refined a bit if the sweetener is going to stay in the formulation. Seeing zero-calorie and “energy water” definitely made us expect something that was devoid of any sweetness. Beyond that, we feel as though the treatment of the Guru logo is a bit washed out against the silver background. Otherwise, the product has a polished and approachable look to it, which feels right in line with a product that’s offering an organic energy drink. Overall, the concept is something that seems on trend, but we’d like to see some adjustment to the execution.
