Review: Banana Recovery

Of all the flavors in the IBEX lineup, the Banana Recovery variety is the one that sounds the most appealing. Sure, that comment is partially based on personal preference, but this is also the most standard yogurt flavor that the company has used in the line. Inside the 8 oz. plastic container you'll find a flavor that’s lightly sweet, slightly flavored and slightly sour. Compared with other yogurt-based beverages out there, it's definitely a more mainstream-oriented product in that the tartness of the product has definitely been kept under control. However, there isn't quite enough banana flavor to really satisfy the palate. But there's another thing that this product is about: recovery. It’s a slightly odd function for a yogurt in that we can't imagine seeking out a yogurt product to help our body recover. To that end, there's certainly some education and explanation that will be required for this product. Ibex made an attempt at this on the back panel the product, but it's honestly somewhat hard to read with the small yellow text that the company uses. In any event, we think that Ibex needs to work on how this function is communicated especially when it comes to the front panel of the product. Otherwise, the design of the product is unique and nicely-executed in that it should certainly stand out amongst competing products. Overall, we like the concept of this product and, for the most part, its execution. Further refinement could definitely make this into a serious player in the drinkable yogurt category.
