Review: Cucumber Chia (2014)
(Last Updated: Jun 26, 2014 at 10:22 AM)With this green juice product, Juisi has again gone outside the box a bit. Here the company has blended cucumber, cantaloupe, mint, jalapeno, organic spinach, organic agave, organic chia seeds and spirulina into an HPP product that is Non-GMO verified (it is not, however, 100 percent organic). There’s a lot going on in terms of flavor in this product. The greens, the jalapeno and the chia all compete for your taste buds, but ultimately the lingering heat of the jalapeno wins out. It’s not overly spicy, although the heat definitely builds as you drink the product. The base flavor of the product is actually quite mild, with cantaloupe, agave, and spinach working pretty nicely together. However, we don’t understand the company's choice of agave versus a sweeter fruit. And we’d like to see more chia in the product (it does, after all, say chia in the name). On the outside, our feelings about this package are the same as they are for the other Juisi flavors: the company should make the logo stand out more. For this particular flavor, we think Juisi should also consider adding “spicy” or jalapeno to the name. As it stands right now, we’d likely see the dark green color of the juice, the word “cucumber,” and the word “chia” first, but the jalapeno is definitely a key part of what this product is all about. Overall, this is a very nice concept, but we think that some refinement is needed.
