PepsiCo Back to Using All-Florida Juice for Tropicana Pure Premium

After nearly five years of using orange juice from a variety of sources, PepsiCo will return to using 100 percent Florida orange juice in its Tropicana Pure Premium products, according to a new report by Beverage Digest, an industry newsletter. The report comes only days after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) halted shipments orange juice from Brazil while it tested for traces of carbendazim, an anti-fungal chemical banned in the U.S. Despite the FDA’s recent decision to halt Brazilian orange juice shipments, a PepsiCo executive said that the decision to return to 100 percent juice from Florida was made “some months ago.”

NY Post: Pepsi Will Lay Off 1,000 Employees to Fund New Marketing Initiatives

After a year in which Diet Coke surged past Pepsi as the third bestselling soft drink in the U.S., PepsiCo will dramatically increase the size of its marketing budget in 2012 and lay off more than 1,000 employees – included some at its Purchase, N.Y. headquarters – to partially offset the costs, according to The New York Post. Pepsi to Take Next National

A national rollout of its new mid-calorie soda is indeed next for Pepsi. Following what the company called a successful test launch of Pepsi Next in Iowa and Wisconsin, the cola giant plans to begin selling the beverage throughout the United States beginning in April 2012, according to the Associated Press. Pepsi Next contains 60 calories per 12 oz. can, 60 percent fewer calories and 60 percent less sugar than regular Pepsi.
