PowerCrunch: Double Chocolate

Power Crunch Double Chocolate Blast is a whey protein drink that features, among other things, 20 g of protein per 12 oz. bottle. In terms of taste, it's definitely a very drinkable product (we’d say the same for the vanilla variety, which is very similar). It's thick and rich with a fairly pleasant chocolate flavor that masks most of the functional ingredients. It's only at the finish where there's really any aftertaste or off flavor, which comes in the form of both artificial sweetener (sucralose) and protein aftertastes. Still, looking at it from the perspective of protein drinks, it is certainly a very viable option. Interestingly, the product has a host of vitamins, minerals, dietary fiber and electrolytes that, in addition to the 20 g of protein, give this product some credibility on the nutrition front. In terms of packaging, the product uses a fully-wrapped 12 oz. plastic bottle that looks very much like your typical protein drink. It even has a white background and a wave of chocolate liquid streaming down the package. We really wish that there were little more effort and originality in the design of this product. Overall, we like what's inside the bottle very much and while the outside certainly isn’t bad, the product could definitely use some help when it comes to making a lasting visual impression with the consumer.
