Rawpothecary’s Kalefornia is a blended -- not cold-pressed -- mixture of kale, banana, kiwi, dates, blueberries and coconut water. The resulting flavor is gritty and pulpy (the company uses the whole fruit) and, thanks to the banana, has a flavor that resembles a smoothie. This drink has a lot going for it: it’s full of flavor, it’s unique, and it’s filling in such a way that a cold-pressed juice isn’t (the 6g of fiber doesn’t hurt either). And at 107 calories and 22g of sugar per 14.5 oz. bottle, it’s definitely something that you can feel good about consuming just on calorie and sugar content alone. From a design perspective, we really like the look of the Rawpothecary logo and the playfulness of the Kalefornia name. However, we do wish that the company used the yellow behind the entire front panel. It would give the product a bit more visual pop and make it easier to read. Otherwise, if there were some way to make it slightly more visually obvious that it’s blended rather than cold-pressed, that might be helpful. Overall, Kalefornia is an extremely enjoyable and unique product.
