Review: Yellow

When we first saw Trader Joe’s “Yellow” cold-pressed juice, we were definitely expecting the obligatory spicy lemonade, but that’s far from what this is. Instead, Yellow has a flavor profile that’s very unique and quite enjoyable. It all starts with the use of yellow bell pepper, which, is combined with apples, pineapple, cucumber, limes and mint. While the drink is not spicy (there’s no capsaicin in bell pepper), the pepper flavor definitely has a little zing to it. It also pairs very nicely with the pineapple and lime, which, as an added benefit, keeps the apple from being too strong. Still, this is a pretty sweet drink (33g of sugar and 150 calories) for better or worse. All in all, this product is quite enjoyable and we appreciate that Trader Joe’s opted for something different when picking its house line of cold-pressed juices. On the packaging front, the company has, again, done a nice job. Finally, the juice, which is currently priced at $4.99, offers an approachable cold-pressed offering (so long as you don’t mind that it’s not organic). Overall, a very nice product.
