BevNET Review
Whynatte has come a long way since our first encounter with the brand way back in 2009. Gone is the notion of being a hybrid RTD coffee and energy drink (you won’t find any taurine or added vitamins in this one). Instead, the manufacturers have retooled the product to be a great tasting and nice looking latte that is -- with the most recent reformulation -- naturally sweetened with sugar, erythritol, stevia, and monk fruit. The product weighs in at 90 calories per 8 oz. can (6g of sugar) and Whynatte hit the nail on the head when it comes to balanced coffee and milk flavor. To further enhance the product, the company added cocoa extract, which gives a subtle touch of indulgence to the product’s finish. It also seems to help mask the sweetener finish, which, at least in coffee drinks, is no easy feat. And of course, you still get the caffeine kick from the coffee, which has 90mg of caffeine per container. All in all, we’re extremely impressed with what the company has created in terms of the formulation. Visually, Whynatte has always had clean packaging and this one is no exception. There’s a red bar across the top to call out the new formulation, but we assume this to be temporary. Otherwise, it’s simple and easy to read, while the design is chic and appealing to the eye. The branding is confident looking and unique, which is not something that we can say about all too many products in the RTD coffee category. Overall, a very well-executed update for Whynatte.
