Zone 8: Honey Lemon Tea

For a brand that uses the tagline “experience the flavors of the world,” it is somewhat surprising to see a product variety as mundane as honey and lemon black tea. Granted, the honey flavor in this product is quite good, but it’s still a pretty basic blend. The product uses three ingredients, organic black tea, honey and organic lemon juice, which gives it a clean and enjoyable flavor. The product is somewhat sweet (it has 150 calories and 19g of sugar per bottle), but it seems slightly more tolerable thanks to the use of honey rather than sugar. As for the packaging and branding, they both feel out of sync with what’s inside the bottle. Specifically, the Zone 8 branding seems like something that you’d expect to see from a functional product rather than a tea brand promoted as “teamed up with Mother Nature.” As it stands right now, we think that consumers would easily miss this part of the product. Overall, it’s a nice product, but the positioning and execution of the brand need work.
