Diane Blames Monster Energy for Uncle Rickie’s Death

This morning, the Internet brought us the following news: A plaintiff named “Diane” has reportedly filed a claim against Monster Beverage Corp., blaming the company’s energy drinks as the reason for the death of a victim named as “Uncle Rickie.” The 59-year-old man was an aficionado of Jager Bombs made with Monster Energy, and Uncle Rickie had already had a couple when he died. Diane said that she knows “for a damn fact” that it was the energy drinks that did him in.

Fleishman, Chief Marketing Officer, Leaves Sambazon

Greg Fleishman, the veteran marketing hand brought on to help broaden the company’s consumer base, has left the company after a three-year run. Sambazon CEO Ryan Black confirmed Fleishman’s departure, saying that the separation was amicable and that the brand – which sells products largely based on the Amazonian Acai berry – is on a positive growth trajectory.

Coke Tests Stevia-Sweetened Cola in Argentina

Coke announced on Wednesday in a company release that it will sell a cola sweetened with sugar and stevia in Argentina. The new product, Coca-Cola Life, will contain half the calories of a standard Coke.
