September 15th, 2010 (New York, NY) – Volvic, one of the world’s leading brands of bottled water, announcedrecently its new partnership with the Rainforest Foundation US for its North American “Drink 1, Give 10” campaign. The campaign will help 10 indigenous groups in Central and South America protect their rights and forests.
The Volvic “Drink 1, Give 10” campaign (www.drink1give10.com) was launched in the U.S. and Canada in the spring of 2008 and has already provided funds in excess of $500,000 to provide clean, safe drinking water to residents in two districts of the Benishangul-Gumuz region of western Ethiopia.
“We are very excited to be part of Volvic’s “Drink 1, Give 10” campaign that will enable us to help 10 indigenous groups in Peru, Brazil, Guyana, Ecuador, Panama and Belize to protect their rights and forests”, says Suzanne Pelletier, Executive Director of the Rainforest Foundation US. “Rainforests provide essential ecological benefits to everyone around the world, and there are no better stewards of these important forests than the indigenous peoples who live there.”
The funds from the campaign will not only enable the Rainforest Foundation to help indigenous groups secure land rights but will also help them protect their natural resource rights, participate in policy setting, and build strong community leadership.
“Volvic recognizes the impact that rainforests have for our ecological balance and we are committed to doing our part to help indigenous groups nurture these vital places,”said Olivier Sonnois, CEO of AMI Brands. “We’ve seen great consumer response to the “Drink 1, Give 10” campaign so far and we look forward to making an even greater difference together during this partnership with the Rainforest Foundation US.”
Volvic will donate 5 U.S. cents to the Rainforest Foundation for each liter of .5L, 1L and 1.5L bottles of Volvic sold in the U.S. and Canada from August 1 – October 31, 2010. No portion of the purchase price is tax-deductible. Additional information can be found at www.drink1give10.com
