Rosaluna, the award-winning mezcal known for its bright and approachable profile, announces the conclusion of its Instagram Margarita Competition, launched in celebration of National Margarita Day (February 22nd). The campaign invited fans to create their own Rosaluna Margarita and share the story behind their cocktail, spotlighting both creativity and connection. The competition generated strong engagement across social media, with participants showcasing original recipes and personal favorites, all centered around Rosaluna's signature serve.
Andrea Gordley (@sipping.season) was named the grand prize winner, earning a top-tier gift card along with a curated Margarita Kit featuring Rosaluna's exclusive cocktail book and a selection of margarita-making essentials. Runners-up Marisa Cabral (@_edimami) and Saleh Amin (@onlyxdiz) were also recognized for their standout submissions, receiving second and third-tier gift cards, respectively, in celebration of their creativity and craftsmanship.
To celebrate the culmination of the program, Rosaluna welcomed a curated group of media and tastemakers to an intimate, invitation-only happy hour at Chapel Bar. The gathering offered attendees an exclusive first taste of the winning cocktail and the opportunity to connect directly with members of the brand team ahead of the public reveal. Set against the vibrant backdrop of New York City, the event brought the competition to life by transforming digital storytelling into a tangible, shared experience.
Rosaluna's margarita program builds on recent recognition from the industry. In 2024, Rosaluna earned First Place for Best Margarita at the Beverage Testing Institute Margarita Competition, further validating the brand's approach to a delightfully balanced mezcalita.
Unlike heavier, smoke-forward mezcals, Rosaluna's flavor profile – bright, citrusy, balanced, and lightly smoked – lends itself seamlessly to margaritas. The result is a cocktail that delivers complexity without overpowering the margarita's fresh citrus notes, making it appealing to mezcal enthusiasts and newcomers alike.
"National Margarita Day is about bringing people together over a cocktail that feels both classic and novel," said Anna Frare, Sr. Brand Marketing Manager at Rosaluna. "With this competition, we really wanted to highlight the stories and creativity that go into every signature margarita. Rosaluna has this way of encouraging people to play around with flavors while still feeling easy and approachable, whether you're a professional mixologist or just mixing drinks with friends at home. At the end of the day, it's about respecting the classic margarita while giving people the confidence to put their own spin on it."
As Rosaluna continues to expand its footprint in key markets, the brand plans to further invest in consumer-driven activations, strategic partnerships, and experiential programming that bring its signature Rosaluna Margarita to new audiences nationwide. ABOUT ROSALUNA:
Rosaluna is a single estate, handcrafted mezcal produced in Santiago Matatlán, in the heart of Oaxaca – a region widely recognized as the world capital of mezcal. Rooted in tradition and heritage, Rosaluna is made by a sixth generation family of agave farmers who live and work within the community where the spirit is made. Fully vertically integrated, Rosaluna oversees every step of production from agave cultivation through distillation, nurturing agave plants for up to eight years and harvesting exclusively capón (over-ripened) agaves to enhance natural sweetness and depth of flavor. The agave is traditionally roasted in underground pits using oak wood and volcanic stone, milled using a mechanical tahona, naturally fermented in pine wood vats, and double distilled in copper pot stills. Produced with zero additives, Rosaluna delivers a bright, balanced, lightly smoked mezcal with smooth earthy, citrus, and mineral notes, crafted for both sipping and cocktails, while honoring traditional mezcal-making practices.
