BEND, Ore. — Humm Kombucha is humming a happy tune, announcing today that the beloved Oregon-based kombucha company will expand into the greater Seattle area through an exclusive partnership with Quality Food Centers (QFC). After 30 days, Humm will be available across a wider range of retailers in the area.
“At Humm Kombucha, we strive to form partnerships with companies that share our values, so entering into the Seattle market with QFC makes perfect sense,” said Jamie Danek, one of the co-founders of Humm. “QFC has a strong focus on locally-made products and community involvement, two things which are core to Humm’s philosophy.”
QFC, a supermarket chain with 64 stores in the Puget Sound region, will be offering Humm Kombucha in its weekly circular at special pricing starting today at 2 for $5. Humm Kombucha will also be available on tap at their Bellevue Village location.
“QFC is thrilled to be part of Humm’s expansion and help local producers bring more quality products to our customers,” said Marlene Stewart, vice president of merchandising for QFC.
Humm’s exclusive rollout with QFC allows them to gain exposure in this important market, while giving them time to ramp up production to meet the growing demand that exists for Humm in the Seattle market.
Humm Kombucha is currently available throughout Oregon, Idaho and parts of Washington. Danek said that part of the company’s strategic plan is to have a strong focus on deep distribution in the Pacific Northwest, while expanding nationwide on a wider scale.
Kombucha is an effervescent drink created by fermenting tea with a symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast, or “scoby,” as it’s known among kombucha brewers. Drinkers of the tea report health benefits including a natural source of B-vitamins and minerals, probiotics for digestive health, and boosts to one’s immune system. Humm’s taste is beloved by kombucha drinkers and converts many people who have tried kombucha but dislike the vinegar taste of most other brands.
Nine flavors of Humm Kombucha are available in its newly-designed custom 14-ounce bottles: Pomegranate Lemonade, Coconut Lime, Blueberry Mint, Lemon Ginger, Strawberry Lemonade, Apple Sass, Chai, Mate’ and Original. All flavors will be available in the Seattle area.
