June 16, 2015 – New York, NY – Vita Coco today announced the hire of Charles Van Es, an accomplished beverage executive who joins the coconut water brand after a 12-year career at beer maker Heineken.
Van Es will oversee North American marketing and report directly to Vita Coco co-founder and ceo Michael Kirban. Van Es will be based in the company’s New York headquarters.
A Dutch native, Van Es worked for Heineken in both in The Netherlands and in the beer brand’s White Plains and New York City offices. His experience includes brand leadership and management, strategy and supply chain roles.
Most recently, Van Es served as senior director, global brands at Heineken USA and was responsible for marketing the Newcastle, Strongbow, Amstel Light and Desperados brands in the US. “With his broad experience, Charles adds further depth to the marketing team,” says Kirban.
Van Es joins Vita Coco just as it launches its new “Stupidly Simple®” advertising campaign, which kicks into high gear this month and runs through the fall in the US and Europe.
