WHITE PLAINS, N.Y.-- Holmes Cay Rum, the pioneering US-based independent rum bottler, announced that it has earned two Double Gold medals at the 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC). The Belize 2006 16 Year Single Cask edition and the Fiji Single Origin Blended Rum both were both awarded the prestigious double gold designation, confirming Holmes Cay selections’ quality and taste to rum lovers in North America.
“We are proud to have two of our lines, both a single cask expression and the younger single origin expression, given high honors at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition,” said Eric Kaye, co-founder and CEO of Holmes Cay Rum. “SFWSC’s Double Gold is one of our industry’s most coveted awards, signaling to spirits connoisseurs the quality and flavor we offer in all of our rum selections.”
The Belize 2006 16 Year edition comes from Travellers Liquors Distillery in Belize. This all molasses rum was distilled on a manually operated column still, then aged and bottled in Belize in 2023 at 61% ABV. Tropically aged exclusively in ex-bourbon casks, its profile is a rich mix of stone fruit and caramel with hints of cacao. This Holmes Cay edition is the only single cask Belize rum available outside of Belize that is 100% tropically aged and bottled in Belize.
About Holmes Cay
Holmes Cay Rum curates a continuously evolving collection of the best small-batch, limited-edition rums, distilled with integrity and without additives. With its Single Cask rums and more accessible Single Origin expressions and blends, Holmes Cay seeks out the best rums in the world and shares them with discerning spirits lovers.
About Eric Kaye
Eric Kaye founded Holmes Cay Rum in 2019. Frustrated that access to cask strength rums without additives was limited in the United States, Kaye saw an opportunity to focus on the hard-to-obtain aged expressions that he had encountered in Europe and the Caribbean, while championing increased transparency across the category. Kaye’s extensive knowledge of rum and relationships with highly regarded distilleries worldwide enable him to select, bottle and import rare casks, unusual expressions and exciting blends.
