SAN FRANCISCO – Hotaling & Co., a leading artisanal spirits importer, and Isle of Arran Distillers are excited to announce the U.S. arrival of the highly anticipated core range of expressions from LAGG Distillery, a new heavily peated distillery from Isle of Arran Distillers, which brought legal distillation back to the picturesque island located off Scotland’s western shoreline. The brand-new core range of LAGG Single Malt Scotch Whiskies – the Kilmory (46% ABV; 700ml; $74.99 SRP) and Corriecravie editions (55% ABV; 700ml; $99.99 SRP) – arrive on shelves this month nationwide.
Isle of Arran Distillers opened its first distillery, Lochranza, in the foothills of the northern village of Lochranza in 1995, where it broke with tradition by producing primarily unpeated whiskies instead of the region’s typically peated expressions. In 2019, the Distillers opened LAGG Distillery on the southern tip of the Isle, which was the original whisky heartland of the island, and with it made a return to more traditional and heavily peated whisky. LAGG is named after the last legally founded distillery on Arran, which closed in 1837.
The world of whisky is filled with tradition and history, but there's always room for innovation and fresh perspectives. And that's exactly what LAGG Distillery is bringing to the table with this brand-new core range of Single Malts.
The Isle of Arran is often described as “Scotland in Miniature” because the unique climate and geography of the island has all the scenery of Scotland including mountains, lowlands, glens, lochs and royal castles. Both distilleries perfectly showcase the complexity of whisky produced in the north and south of the island – and are also rooted in the history and traditions of the Isle of Arran.
Hotaling & Co. became the sole U.S. importer for Arran Single Malt Whiskies in 2020. The company is thrilled to be reviving LAGG’s heritage with the launch of these expressions from the new distillery, which has a commitment to quality and authenticity that shines through every bottle, making these new core range editions a must-try for any whisky enthusiast.
