Montpelier, VT – Barr Hill Gin, the most awarded gin in the United States and #1 selling gin in Vermont, is proud to announce its upcoming Pollinator Week, taking place from June 17-23, 2024. This initiative aims to raise awareness about the crucial role pollinators, particularly bees, play in Vermont's thriving agricultural landscape. Barr Hill Gin has partnered with Vermont brands American Meadows and Thuja Media to drive this important message forward.
Pollinators are essential to the health and biodiversity of ecosystems, and Barr Hill Gin has been at the forefront of efforts to protect and expand pollinator habitats. Through its ongoing commitment to sustainability, environmental stewardship, and Bee’s Knees Week campaign, the brand has seen 23 acres pledged and planted. Barr Hill’s goal for this year's Bee's Knees Week is to surpass one million square feet of new pollinator habitat pledged and planted, since the start of this annual sustainability initiative.
"At Barr Hill Gin, we understand the vital importance of pollinators and the impact they have on our local ecosystems, economies, and agricultural communities," said Ryan Christiansen, President and Head Distiller at Caledonia Spirits, the maker of Barr Hill Gin. "We are dedicated to not only crafting exceptional spirits, but also to making a positive difference in the world around us. Pollinator Week is an opportunity for us to celebrate these incredible creatures and the web of dependence between people and pollinators."
As part of Pollinator Week, Barr Hill Gin has teamed up with American Meadows to host “Cocktail Class: Edible Flowers and Herbs” on June 18 at 6PM at its Montpelier distillery. During this engaging presentation-style class, attendees will learn how to create three delightful cocktails paired with three different seasonal plants. American Meadows will share their top picks for the upcoming growing season, and each guest will have the opportunity to take home their choice of a lavender, elderberry, or blueberry plant. Additionally, complimentary seed packets for native pollinator plants will be available to all attendees.
In collaboration with Thuja Media, Barr Hill Gin is also introducing a special edition hoodie featuring hand-sewn details. A portion of the sales proceeds from this exclusive item will be directed toward the preservation and conservation of pollinator habitat in Vermont.
