Sipwell Wine Co, a female-founded and black-owned canned wine company, will launch with Monterey Bay Wine Company as their statewide distributor this month, representing the winery throughout California. With them, Sipwell will expand distribution into Northern California for the first time since being founded in 2021 by Hilary Cocalis.
The expanded NorCal distribution will include placement in nearly 200 Safeway stores, beginning at the end of July 2024. Distribution will begin with Sipwell’s ‘Tiny Victories’ Sparkling White Wine, the first and only can-conditioned sparkling wine. Using Champagne yeast, the result is wine with a fine, feisty bubble, zero sugar, longer lasting freshness and continued flavor development over time. Offering refreshing tartness balanced by the biscuit-y bubbles, the 2022 vintage of Tiny Victories was the first and only canned wine to make Wine Enthusiast’s annual Top 100 Wines list.
Monterey Bay Wine Company is woman-owned and has an emphasis on high quality family-owned and sustainably farmed wines, making Sipwell a natural fit within their portfolio. Sipwell Wine Co. makes premium wine with a can-do spirit: a single serving of award-winning organic wine in an infinitely recyclable can, sourcing organically and sustainably farmed grapes from California’s Central Coast.
