SUERTE TEQUILA HOPS ON THE CELEBRITY BANDWAGON
In an industry that seems to be taking itself a bit too seriously these days, Suerte is taking the opposite stance declaring 'if you aren't having fun, you're doing it wrong'.
Boulder, Colorado — Suerte has always been about authenticity – slow-roasted agave, tahona wheel crushed the old way, and their own distillery in Jalisco, MX. It wasn’t introduced at a celeb party in Beverly Hills. The first bottles were sold out of the trunk of founder Laurence Spiewak’s car in Aspen, CO.
But things change. “Every halfway celebrity seems to be fronting a tequila brand these days”, says Chuck Porter, marketing advisor at Suerte, “so we’ve signed up one of our own. He’s a rabbit.”
The newest tequila celeb premiers on social media in a series of clips from his stand-up show. “He’s pretty funny for a rabbit,” says Porter, “and having him as our celebrity means we can keep selling our premium tequila at a pretty reasonable price. I mean, who are we kidding, how much are carrots?”
Suerte is about embracing the fun and accessibility that tequila represents – because tequila is fun. Their mission: more joy, more laughs, more tequila, (& more rabbits).
What’s up with the rabbit? Centuries ago, legend has it, a farmer’s wife saw lots of rabbits (400 it is said). They bounced happily through her fields lapping up the juices from the fermented agave plants. She went out and collected some of the nectar in jars, brought it into the hacienda and, for the first time, everyone did tequila shots. Ultimately she was crowned Mayahuel, the Aztec Goddess of Tequila. And the rabbits, well, to Suerte, they’re heroes.
