Fastest Growing Spirits Brand in The World that Announced Record-Setting Growth in 2023 Continues Expansion with Next International Market Launch
The Finnish Long Drink, the brand built on the heritage of the Finnish alcohol category of long drinks, is now available for the first time in Western Canada. Launched in the US in 2018 with the mission of bringing the “national drink of Finland” to more people, The Finnish Long Drink has grown exponentially, doubling its sales each year, and is now expanding into its second North American market. The long drink category was invented in Finland in 1952 as a result of needing to create a drink that was both delicious and quick to serve to the thousands of people visiting the country for the Summer Olympics in Helsinki, while the country was still recovering from World War II.
“As a Finn, on behalf of my fellow founders, I can say we are all equally grateful to share our national drink with more people, and introduce the category to the Canadian market,” adds Sakari Manninen, Co-Founder. “When we started The Finnish Long Drink in 2018, we sampled it out of our backpacks in NYC driven by the belief that the refreshing taste and authentic story we had to tell would resonate with American drinkers. Six years later, we are incredibly proud and excited to create more fans, and we look forward to Canadians discovering what makes long drinks so special.”
Since its launch, The Finnish Long Drink has reached nearly 2 million nine-litre case sales in 2023 and was recognized as “the fastest-growing spirits brand in the world,” according to The Spirits Business. As the brand has grown in the US, several major celebrities, like Actor Miles Teller, DJ Kygo, and Golfer Rickie Fowler, became co-owners after trying the beverage and realizing they had never tasted anything like it.
“I became an investor in The Finnish Long Drink because I believe it’s the best canned beverage in the game,” says Miles Teller. “Over the last 6 years, we’ve made incredible gains, and our success has proven that American consumers resonate with the taste and history of Long Drink. I look forward to sharing The Finnish Long Drink story with Canadians.”
Starting this month, both the Traditional Citrus and Zero Sugar Citrus Long Drink flavours will be available to purchase in 6-packs across British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan.
About The Finnish Long Drink
The long drink is a top selling category of alcohol in Finland – a legend that is available in America, and now Canada. The roots of long drinks go back to the 1952 Summer Games in Helsinki, when the country of only 4 million people was still recovering from World War II. Concerned about how to serve drinks quickly enough to all the visitors, the government commissioned the creation of a revolutionary new liquor drink that was both delicious and fast to serve – and so the first long drinks were born. Now this legend has finally been brought to America and now Canada by the next generation of Finns who want the world to experience the refreshing and unique The Finnish Long Drink.
