August 27th, 2024 (Jacksonville, FL) – Multiple Grammy winner Derek Trucks today announces Ass Pocket Whiskey (APW), a new company set to release limited bourbons exclusively in 200ml flask sizes. APW’s first release, a Heritage Kentucky Straight Bourbon, will premiere exclusively at this year’s Bourbon & Beyond festival.
APW is born out of Derek’s passion for bourbon and his frustration with the current culture of collection over consumption. As a dedicated bourbon enthusiast, Derek was disillusioned by the way whiskey has become more about hoarding rare bottles than savoring them. APW challenges this trend by offering premium bourbons in smaller, more accessible flask sizes, encouraging fans to enjoy their whiskey without the fear of “ruining” a collectible bottle. As Derek puts it, APW is here so fans can “have their whiskey and drink it too.”
Bourbon & Beyond attendees will be the first to experience APW. Derek will kick off the festivities with an intimate performance at Louisville’s legendary Show Barn at Ashbourne Farms on Wednesday, September 18th, followed by a headlining set by Tedeschi Trucks Band on the main stage of Bourbon & Beyond on Friday, September 20th. Derek will also join industry leaders Chris Blandford of Kroger and Carrie Van Winkle, Co-founder of Pappy & Company, for a panel discussion as part of the festival’s Bourbon Experience program on Friday afternoon to dive deeper into the vision behind APW.
Festival-goers can purchase and sample APW at the dedicated Ass Pocket Whiskey Bar, with the option to have bottles shipped directly to their homes. Any bottles that remain will be made available via e-commerce exclusively at AssPocketWhiskey.com following the event. Fans are encouraged to sign up on the website to be the first to receive updates on this and future releases.
This venture marks the third original brand from Spirits of the Night, following successful limited releases with Kings of Leon and Willett Distillery (Kiamichi Whiskey), as well as the celebrated Four Walls Whiskey in partnership with Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, and Glenn Howerton—now available as a mass-market brand in bars across the U.S.
