Memphis, TN– December 2, 2024 – Morningside Brands, Inc., the producer and importer of Alma del Jaguar Tequila, the second fastest-growing tequila brand in the U.S., introduces its latest release: ultra-premium Tequila Añejo. This release redefines traditional tequila aging techniques with a novel, layered blending approach. Crafted from 100% pure agave, in close collaboration with the fifth-generation Vivanco tequila family and master distiller Sergio Cruz at NOM 1414 in Arandas, this small-batch Añejo combines three distinct lots aged in American and French oak barrels, creating a one-of-a-kind tequila with nuanced depth and richness.
Alma del Jaguar’s Añejo challenges conventional tequila-making by drawing on methods more commonly seen in bourbon and scotch. This tequila combines three individually aged batches for a complex and balanced profile.
“Our goal was to craft a tequila with layers of flavor that would set this Añejo apart,” says founder McCauley Williams. “Each sip reveals something new, making the experience both dynamic and refined.”
The blend includes:
- Double-barreled batch (65%): Aged 6.7 months in American oak and 11 months in French oak, producing deep colors and notes of caramel, caramel corn, vanilla, and subtle smoke.
- Single American oak batch (18%): Aged 20.7 months, offering a light color with delicate notes of chalk and limestone.
- Single American oak batch (17%): Aged 20.2 months, darker in color with an intriguing mix of vanilla and subtle vinegar tang.
This innovative blend is a first at NOM 1414, where separate batches are typically bottled individually. Alma del Jaguar’s approach brings these contrasting profiles together, resulting in a uniquely harmonious and captivating Añejo.
This tequila, along with all of Alma del Jaguar’s tequilas, is crafted from sustainably grown blue weber agave, cultivated over 6,800 feet in the highlands of Los Altos de Jalisco. The region’s climate and iron-rich soil yield sweeter, richer agave plants. Alma del Jaguar’s offerings include Blanco, Reposado, high-proof Nocturna, and now, Añejo.
Launched in 2023 to support jaguar conservation in the U.S. and Mexico, Alma del Jaguar donates proceeds to organizations like the Northern Jaguar Project, co-founded by Williams' uncle, Rick Williams. The brand is also committed to sustainability, using 100% recycled Mexican glass bottles, agave fiber labels, repurposed cork closures, and recycled cardboard packaging—all sourced locally within 85 miles of the distillery.
Alma del Jaguar Tequila Añejo ($79.99) is available now—perfectly timed for holiday gatherings and as a standout gift for tequila aficionados.
