SCOTLAND (MAY 7, 2025) – The Glendronach Distillery announced today that they have officially launched The Master’s Anthology series in the United States, a new collection from the Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky distillery that specializes in the art of sherry cask maturation. The new collection is comprised of three non-age-statement single malts with each marque celebrating a different aspect of the rich and rewarding whiskies: Ode to The Valley, Ode to The Embers and Ode to The Dark.
The Master’s Anthology begins with Ode to The Valley, a fruit-forward expression of floral nectar and summer berry notes, matured in port and sherry casks. A rare peated expression, Ode to The Embers blends smoky peat with spiced warmth from Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez casks. The richest expression, Ode to The Dark, offers notes of layered chocolate, black cherry and dates, matured in Pedro Ximénez casks.
Crafted with three decades of expertise, the releases explore the aromatic depth and character of The Glendronach's signature sherry cask whisky, culminating in some of the most decadent, darkest expressions ever crafted from the historic Boynsmill House.
"The Master’s Anthology is a tribute to the art of sherry cask maturation, reflecting the depth and character that have become synonymous with The Glendronach for over nearly 200 years,” said Rachel Barrie, the Master Blender of The Glendronach. “This collection is a journey into the heart of our distillery, where time-honored traditions and natural influences shape every drop of our whisky.”
“Each bottling is a new composition, amplifying key notes while preserving the harmony of our tradition. Ode to the Valley captures the abundance of the landscape of The Glendronach Distillery in full glory, Ode to the Embers evokes the bold spice of days gone by in The Valley of Forgue and Ode to the Dark enrobes layers of chocolate, plum, caramelized dates and coffee, to bask The Glendronach in rich splendor. This anthology embodies the essence of The Glendronach and tells a story of our history, our heart and our dedication,” Barrie continued.
The new collection will be available in the U.S. starting this month.
Ode to The Valley
ABV 46.2%; SRP $84.50
The Master’s Anthology begins its journey at the Valley of Forgue. In a bountiful twist of bramble vines, on the edge of the Scottish Highlands, sits The Glendronach Distillery. Here, the land gives its plentiful riches and inspiration of ruby port casks from the Douro valley in Portugal, and signature sherry casks, this expression presents sweet notes of floral nectar to dance in harmony with succulent ripe summer berries.
Tasting Notes:
- Color: Burnished copper
- Nose: Late summer berries and chocolate de leche imbued with sweet demerara and apricot glaze
- Palate: Sip blackberry and roasted apple crumble with freshly baked gingerbread and sweet damson plum
Ode to The Embers
ABV 48.4%; SRP $91.00
Ode to the Embers is a rare peated expression within The Master’s Anthology, in celebration of the ways of old when malt kilns cloaked barley grain in a warm smoke and the scent of smouldering peat whispered through the valley. A deeply aromatic expression of The Glendronach, presenting intertwined notes of peat smoke, with a dominance of Oloroso sherry casks for spiced complexity, enriched with our signature Pedro Ximénez casks.
Tasting Notes:
- Color: Smouldering amber
- Nose: Cinnamon spiced toffee, apple and caramelized walnut brittle intertwine with flamed orange on a smouldering open fire
- Palate: Raisin and honeyed walnut meld with bramble ganache and smoked chocolate fudge
Ode to The Dark
ABV 50.8%; SRP $97.50
Ode to the Dark is the final, and most indulgent expression, a crescendo ending within The Master’s Anthology. As evening folds slowly into night, darkness announces the coming of richer rewards. Matured in exceptional Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, and bottled at high strength, this expression elevates richness with layers of flavor.
Tasting Notes:
- Color: Black garnet
- Nose: A symphony of mocha, black cherry and dark chocolate precede créme brûlée with raisin, brown sugar and ginger
- Palate: Velvet layers of smooth espresso and crème caramel fold into black grape and mint chocolate ganache

About The Glendronach Distillery
Nestled in the valley of Forgue, deep in the East Highland hills, is The Glendronach, one of the oldest licensed distilleries in Scotland. The Glendronach is of true Highland style: a complex and full bodied spirit, perfect for slow maturation in Spanish sherry oak. At The Glendronach Distillery, we have carried forth the tradition of our founder James Allardice since 1826, maturing our Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky in the finest Spanish Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks from Andalucía in Spain.
Our richly-sherried Highland Single Malts are recognized for their deep color and complex flavor profiles, which range from the sweet fruity flavors of the Pedro Ximénez casks we select, to the dry and nutty notes of our Oloroso casks.
