KETCHUM, ID (May 14, 2025) – Warfield Distillery is proud to announce it has received top honors at the 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, including a Double Gold Medal and 96-point score for its Warfield Organic Gin. With more than 3,500 entries annually, SFWSC is one of the most respected and competitive spirits competitions in the world. Warfield also earned two Silver Medals—one for its Organic Barrel Aged Gin and another for its Organic American Single Malt Whiskey – Deke Edition, further validating Warfield's dedication to organics and traditional distillation methods. In past years, Warfield’s Organic American Single Malt has won a Double Gold and Gold medals from the San Francisco World Spirits Competition.
Since 2015, Warfield Distillery and Brewery has committed itself to distilling organic spirits using only organic, non-chemical or pesticide ingredients: prioritizing quality over quantity. Warfield has three copper pot stills, one 215-gallon copper gin still, and two 1000-gallon whiskey stills made by Forsyth in Scotland. These stills are the backbone of the distillery and produce the unique flavors found in Warfield organic spirits.
Warfield, acquired last year by Sun Valley Distillery, is owned by Steve Landers Jr., with Dustin Curtis serving as Vice President. Co-founder Alex Buck remains actively involved in day-to-day operations, overseeing product development and continuing his role as Warfield’s Managing Distiller. The new leadership brings a focused expansion plan that includes:
- Strengthening the presence in the Idaho market
- Nationwide distribution with an updated direct-to-consumer channel in partnership with Liquid Rails, enabling shipping to 45 of the 50 states. Customers can now explore and order the complete Warfield lineup at: shop.drinkwarfield.com
- Increasing production capacity through strategic investments and automation
- A broader spirits portfolio and canned cocktail line to debut within 12–18 months
“We are thrilled with the results of the SFWSC awards. It is an honor to be chosen by these expert judges multiple years in a row. It is humbling and reinforces our dedication to the production of the highest quality organic spirits,” said Alex Buck, founder and Managing Distiller for Sun Valley Distillery.
Warfield’s Organic American Whiskey is distilled from organic pale and crystal malts and is mashed, fermented, & distilled entirely in-house from the top-quality malts. The Deke Edition Organic Release Whiskey is known for its wonderfully complex floral, vanilla, and malted grain on the nose. It has a black pepper, leather, and dark chocolate flavor, and it finishes smooth with a bit of clove-like spice. Warfield’s Organic Gin captures the essence of the Idaho wilderness in a bottle. Highlighting organic botanicals like sage, juniper, and lemon, it has a clean, smooth finish with a complex, herbaceous flavor. Warfield’s Barrel Aged Gin is the result of barrel resting Warfield’s Organic Gin in ex-bourbon barrels for over 6 months, resulting in a smooth, vanilla-laced barrel character known for a long, lingering finish and is nutty and spicy, with a hint of herbaceous botanicals.
Founded on the simple desire to create exceptional organic beer and organic spirits, Warfield Distillery & Brewery opened its doors in 2015 in Ketchum, ID. Built to be a social epicenter for the local community, Warfield is known for crafting small-batch, certified organic spirits from mountain spring water and carefully sourced ingredients. Using Scottish-made Forsyth copper stills, the distillery creates uniquely expressive gins and whiskeys rooted in the Idaho landscape.
ABOUT SFWSC:
Founded in 2000, the San Francisco World Spirits Competition is one the oldest and largest spirits competition. Entries are judged through a blind tasting process that guarantees fairness, impartiality, and equal consideration for all entrants. Products are judged on an individual basis and not compared with other entries in the flight.
A Double Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC) means a spirit has received a unanimous gold medal rating from all members of the judging panel. This signifies the spirit is considered among the finest in its category and sets a high standard of quality.
An award designation of Silver denotes outstanding spirits that show refinement, finesse, and complexity. Silver award winners are among the best examples of their categories.
