Beginning July 4th, 2025, Kappu will be available at Kato Sake Works and select retailers.
Brooklyn, NY (July 2025) — This summer, Brooklyn-based Kato Sake Works is proud to introduce Kappu, an innovative RTD canned sake inspired by Japan’s iconic one-cup tradition. At 14% ABV, Kappu is now available in 7.5 oz cans, offering a lighter, convenient option to enjoy sake on any occasion. This launch marks the first canned product under Kato Sake Works, reflecting their long-standing commitment to making sake accessible and approachable.
Following Japan’s tradition of “one-cup”—a single-serving sake format popularized in the 1960s—Kato Sake Works is bringing this tradition to Brooklyn. Championing Japanese tradition with a modern Americana twist, Kappu makes sake accessible and portable—perfect for outdoor celebrations and sunny days. Brewed in the traditional junmai style, the coarsely filtered sake gives Kappu a softer body, with notes of subtle sweetness and a clean, crisp finish appealing to the American palate. “Kappu came from our goal to make sake even more approachable and easy to enjoy,” says Shinobu Kato, founder of Kato Sake Works. “Our customers have been asking for a canned version for a while now, so we’re excited to finally bring Kappu to the picnics, parties, and everyday moments happening across Brooklyn.”
