Denver, CO, September 17, 2025 – Stranahan’s®, the nation’s number-one1 and most awarded2 American single malt whiskey, is paying homage to its brewing roots with the launch of its fourth annual Diamond Peak release: Stranahan’s American Single Malt Whiskey: Diamond Peak Local Brewer’s Cask.
Stranahan’s deep connection to Colorado brewing culture began at its founding, when Founder Jess Graber used George Stranahan’s beer mash from Flying Dog Brewery to distill his first batch of American single malt. Ever since, Stranahan’s has shared its used whiskey barrels with local breweries to age specialty beers before bringing them back to finish its whiskey yet again. This year’s Diamond Peak release continues that tradition.
For Diamond Peak Local Brewer’s Cask, Stranahan’s partnered with four local breweries, sharing ex-Stranahan’s casks that were first seasoned with their craft beer, then “boomeranged” back to the distillery. Each cask was refilled with a marriage of 4–6-year-old American single malt and aged an additional 18 months. The result: a one-of-a-kind whiskey layered with bold notes of ripe fruit and velvety chocolate malt.
“Diamond Peak has always been about taking our one award-winning recipe and showing just how much depth it holds through finishing,” said Justin Aden, Head Blender at Stranahan’s. “Batch number four is more than a whiskey. It’s a reflection of where Stranahan’s started and how far we’ve come. From a beer mash that sparked the idea for Jess’s original recipe to this year’s release, Diamond Peak honors the brewing heritage at the heart of Stranahan’s.”
Stranahan’s will be offering fans a first taste of Diamond Peak Local Brewer’s Cask at this year’s Great American Beer Festival in Denver, where it will appear as the festival’s first-ever Featured Distillery and a proud sponsor, as the nation’s largest celebration of beer welcomes spirits brands to pour for the first time. Whiskey and beer fans alike will experience firsthand how brewing and distilling remain deeply interconnected in Colorado.
Diamond Peak Local Brewer’s Cask will be available for purchase beginning this fall at Stranahan’s Distillery in Denver, Stranahan’s Whiskey Lodge in Aspen, online and at retailers nationwide at a suggested retail price of $79.99 per 750ml bottle.
