Canadian distillery Black Fox named Worldwide Whisky Producer of the Year by IWSC.
From the heart of Canada's prairies, Black Fox Farm and Distillery earns the IWSC's highest honour for whisky excellence.
SASKATCHEWAN, Canada — 13 November 2025 — "Few distilleries would dare to let their barrels face blizzards and blazing heat, but for the winner of this year's Worldwide Whisky Producer Trophy, the weather is part of the recipe," said a representative of the International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC) during their awards ceremony in London, England. "From crop-to-connoisseur, every element is shaped by the extremes of their homeland. The result? Whiskies that carry both place and personality in equal measure."
On 12 November 2025, Black Fox Farm and Distillery was named Worldwide Whisky Producer of the Year, one of the highest honours at the 2025 IWSC, the world's largest and most influential spirits awards. This trophy recognizes a distillery's overall portfolio, innovation, and commitment to excellence.
This follows the four product-specific IWSC awards Black Fox earned in June of this year:
- Black Fox Haskap Gin — Spirit Gold Outstanding, score 99
- Black Fox Blended Canadian Whisky (2024) — Spirit Gold, score 95
- Black Fox Single Grain Canadian Whisky (triticosecale) — Spirit Gold, score 95
- Black Fox Cask Finished Canadian Whisky — Spirit Silver, score 90
"These awards celebrate the skill, patience, and precision that go into every drop of our spirits," said Co-Founder and CEO Barb Stefanyshyn-Cote. "To be recognised by the IWSC among the world's great producers affirms that exceptional craftsmanship — grounded in integrity, innovation, and respect for the process — can create spirits worthy of standing beside the finest anywhere in the world."
The Spirit of Canada, Captured in Every Cask
Nestled in the heart of the Canadian prairies, Black Fox Farm and Distillery grows over 95 per cent of the grains used in its spirits. This crop-to-connoisseur approach allows the distillers to shape flavour from the soil upward, creating whiskies that express the strength, beauty, and resilience of their northern terroir.
Black Fox whiskies mature outdoors year-round, exposed to Canada's dramatic climate shifts — from -40°C winters to +40°C summers.
A Global Standard for Traceability and Transparency
Each bottle of Black Fox whisky carries a serial-numbered coin linked to a Certificate of Provenance, enabling drinkers to trace the spirit's journey from farm to glass. As a founding member of the Estate Whisky Alliance, Black Fox champions authenticity and sustainability in whisky making around the world.
"This award is not just about us," said Co-Founder and Head Distiller John Cote. "It's a celebration of what Canada can bring to the world of whisky — integrity, innovation, and a deep connection to the land. Our goal has always been to craft spirits that are unmistakably Canadian, shaped by our prairies and defined by our values."
