The Refreshing Brand Puts a California Spin on the Classic Spanish Mix of Wine and Soda, Created For the Next Generation of Consumers.
LOS ANGELES, 2026 – Last month, L.A.-based Little Sun announced the official launch of the first canned Calimocho in time for summer, introducing a new wine-based ready-to-drink category that expands how, and where, wine is enjoyed. Bringing together two of the world’s most beloved flavors, both brand offerings are made from real California wine and paired with natural sodas that were intentionally crafted by the husband-and-wife team to create drinks that are undeniably crushable.
Flavor-forward and low ABV, this refreshing drink is based on the Spanish staple that’s been enjoyed for decades, now designed for today’s more casual, social drinking occasions. Encouraging U.S. consumers to “drink wine wrong,” Little Sun is the first to bring the calimocho into the RTD space, following a soft launch in 2025.
Dubbing Little Sun as “the beer of wine,” co-founder Trent Rohner says that “the best parts of culture exist when high and low come together. True good taste is not about obeying the rules, it’s about knowing when to break them.”
As more people continue to reach for non-malt RTDs, Little Sun brings wine to the party in an unexpected format, with two distinct offerings that can be enjoyed anywhere:
Calimocho Classic - a refreshing, bubbly blend of red wine and cola that delivers a perfect mix of juicy fruit notes and caramelized fizz
Calimocho Blanco - a crisp, citrusy twist combining white wine and lemon-lime soda for a bright, zesty refreshment.
“As a wine drinker with an appreciation for the craft and history, I didn’t want to challenge wine itself but rather create a different and playful way to experience it,” says co-founder Sunny Rohner. “Little Sun is both classic and new, celebrating the legend of the first Calimocho with a California twist. It’s about having fun without sacrificing quality.”
Each 12oz can is 5% ABV, only 120 calories, and made with no high-fructose corn syrup or artificial flavors.
Little Sun can be found behind the bar and on select shelves across California, including Total Wine & More, Los Angeles’ Wine + Eggs and The Lodge Room, San Francisco’s The Laundromat, and The Ojai Playhouse. Little Sun also plans to expand to other states, and is already working on its next Calimocho flavor.
