NEW BERLIN, NY — Every now and then, a flavor comes along that deserves a bigger spotlight. Meet Chobani® Ube Sweet Cream Dairy Coffee Creamer, Chobani’s newest Flavor Drop featuring real ube, the vibrant purple yam that has been treasured in Filipino culture for generations.
Launching this fall, the purple creamer is made with real ube, farm-fresh milk, cream, and cane sugar for a rich, authentic flavor without “spooky” ingredients—nothing artificial. The result is a subtly sweet, silky, slightly nutty coffee creamer that makes you pause after the first sip—a true celebration of ube’s distinctive taste. And because it’s Chobani, you’ll find only natural ingredients inside. No artificial flavors. No colors from artificial sources. No hydrogenated oils. Just the real thing.
Ube has been quietly winning hearts across America, but many are still discovering it for the first time. Chobani wanted to introduce it the way we believe great food should always be introduced: with care, curiosity, and ingredients that let the flavor speak for itself.
Chobani’s innovation journey started close to home. As recipe development began taking shape, the R&D team consulted with Filipino employees to learn about the ube treats they grew up loving—from bakery favorites to creamy desserts enjoyed with family. Those conversations helped transform personal memories into tasting notes, guiding the team as they refined the recipe to capture the familiar flavor and feeling they remembered.
“When the R&D team approached me, I shared a list of ube pastries, desserts, and grocery products for them to try before beginning work on this project to get a sense of how most Filipinos enjoy it,” said Nina Felix, Senior Director of Supply Chain Optimization at Chobani. “When I tried the finished product, I immediately thought of the ube macapuno ice cream I grew up buying from the mamang sorbetero—a Filipino street ice cream vendor. It really took me back.”
But the experience doesn’t stop with what’s inside the carton. To celebrate the launch, Chobani partnered with Patricia Doria, a Manila-based artist from the Philippines, to illustrate the limited-edition packaging. Her artwork celebrates storytelling through vivid color, surrealism, and a unique airbrush style, transforming the creamer into a collectible canvas.
Patricia’s illustrations appear across three unique package designs, each created with a playful Halloween-inspired look to spark curiosity and invite more Americans to learn about ube along the way—from where it comes from to how to pronounce it.
“Flavor Drops are all about discovery. Most people’s morning coffee is something they don’t want to mess with, but sometimes changing it up is how you find something you love,” said Jackie Morrogh, Director of Platform Growth at Chobani. “With ube, we wanted to reward curiosity every step of the way, from the packaging to the ingredients, to the flavor in your cup. For the people who grew up with ube, we hope it tastes just like you remember. And for those trying it for the first time, we hope it inspires you to seek out more ube.”
Chobani® Ube Sweet Cream Coffee Creamer will be available at retailers nationwide starting in September at a suggested retail price of $7.49.
The single-batch release is the latest in Chobani’s Flavor Drop series, celebrating beloved flavors from around the world and inviting more people to discover the stories, traditions, and communities behind them—one delicious cup of coffee at a time.
