French Limousin Oak Brings Complexity and Elegance to Newest Limited Release

LOUISVILLE, KY – Aug. 27, 2026 – Buzzard's Roost Whiskey announces its latest limited-release expression, French Double Oak Bourbon. Back by popular demand after the last batch sold out in 2025, this new bourbon is designed for the discerning drinker looking for unparalleled layers of unique double-oak flavors coaxed from French oak.

The Innovation of Barrel Alchemy

Buzzard’s Roost Co-founder Jason Brauner selected a seven-year-old bourbon for the distillery’s unique double-oak finishing process. Instead of traditional American oak, Buzzard’s Roost used 18-month-seasoned French oak sourced from the Limousin region of France.

Buzzard’s Roost leveraged French oak’s extra-fine grain structure with a very light char to coax out flavors of dark brown sugar tipping into toffee with notes of baking spice, dark honey, and dried apple.

"Our team pulled out all the stops to craft a double-oak bourbon that stands out for its complexity and intense flavors," said Buzzard’s Roost Co-founder and CEO Judy Hollis Jones. “The French oak also imparts a distinct texture to the whiskey that makes it round and luscious on the palate. It’s one of our best yet.”

• Nose: The whiskey opens with characteristic aromas of French oak, including almond butter and a hint of sandalwood. Brown sugar and warm raisins are accented with dried fruit and baking spices.
• Palate: Dark brown sugar, rich toffee with notes of allspice, dark honey, and dried apples. A hint of new saddle leather on the back palate.
• Finish: A boost in tannins from the French oak provides a full and round texture, drying to very light oak and sweet nuts.
