Sean Wotherspoon Reimagines a California Classic for Silver Oak
PRESS RELEASE posted by Silver Oak Cellars
The limited-edition collaboration pairs Silver Oak with designer Sean Wotherspoon for a vibrant reinterpretation of the winery's signature label.
HEALDSBURG, CA - August 27, 2026 - Silver Oak today announces a limited-edition collaboration with designer, vintage collector, and creative director Sean Wotherspoon. Created to celebrate the release of the 2022 Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, the 480-bottle edition reimagines the winery's signature label and marks the first artist-designed bottle in Silver Oak's history.
Available beginning August 31, the edition of 480 bottles brings together Silver Oak and Sean Wotherspoon through a shared appreciation for timeless design and fresh perspectives on vintage classics.
For more than 50 years, Silver Oak has released an Alexander Valley Cabernet that reflects both consistency and evolution. Wotherspoon has built his career in much the same way -- revisiting familiar silhouettes, objects, and cultural references to create work that feels new while remaining rooted in what came before. Together, they bring a new point of view to one of California's most recognizable wine labels.
"Our label has remained consistent over the years because it's part of who we are. Inviting Sean to reinterpret it wasn’t about changing that identity; it was about seeing it through a new creative lens," said Silver Oak Chief Marketing Officer Lauren Larrabee. "His love of vintage Americana made him a natural partner to bring fresh energy to one of our most anticipated annual releases."
Named Joyful Kaleidoscope, Wotherspoon's artwork brings his signature color language to Silver Oak’s familiar label architecture. Anchored by the winery’s water tower and oak tree, the design uses bold color-blocking and graphic forms to reinterpret the natural elements at the heart of Silver Oak’s story.
“Nature has so much depth. You can start with the smell, which leads you to the colors you see and then to the textures you can touch and feel. Silver Oak carries these same qualities in their wine, bottles, and labels. That same sensory journey you go through in nature is what I wanted to create with our project, starting with color,” said Wotherspoon.
While Silver Oak's commitment to winemaking remains unchanged, the winery continues to celebrate the people and disciplines that shape the broader culture surrounding wine. Through partnerships with artists, designers, and other creative minds, Silver Oak invites new perspectives into its story while remaining grounded in the values that have defined the winery for more than five decades.
The limited-edition bottle will be available beginning August 31 exclusively on silveroak.com while supplies last.
