Artelium Launches Mosaic, a New collection celebrating blending and Piwi varieties
PRESS RELEASE posted by Artelium Wine Estate
Artelium Wine Estate has unveiled Artelium Mosaics, a new collection of English still wines celebrating the art of blending while exploring the growing diversity of grape varieties now being cultivated in the UK.
The collection launches with three wines: The White Mosaic 2023, The Rosé Mosaic 2025 and The Red Mosaic 2024, each taking a different approach to blending and reflecting Artelium’s philosophy of creativity, craftsmanship and considered winemaking.
The Mosaic range explores what can be achieved when varieties with different characteristics are brought together, each contributing an individual element to the finished wine. The concept is a natural fit for Artelium, an estate founded around the meeting point of wine, art and craft. Just as individual pieces come together to form a mosaic, the wines use blending to build layers of flavour, texture and character.
Alongside established varieties including Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir, the collection also introduces Divico and Cabaret Noir, PIWI varieties that Artelium believes could have an increasingly important role to play in the future of English viticulture.
Mark Collins, co-founder of Artelium Wine Estate, said:
“PIWIs are particularly exciting in the UK because of the challenges presented by our climate. Their greater natural resistance to fungal disease has the potential to reduce intervention in the vineyard, but for us, their importance goes beyond sustainability. Ultimately, a grape still has to make an exciting wine.” He continues:
“The Red Mosaic brings together Pinot Meunier with Cabaret Noir and Divico, using these varieties not simply because of how they perform in the vineyard, but because of what they contribute in the glass. Cabaret Noir brings depth, colour and structure, while Divico adds another dimension to a blend that demonstrates the potential for characterful red wine from the English climate. Mosaic gives us the freedom to experiment with varieties and blends according to the vintage. We don't want to be constrained by a fixed formula, it is about understanding what each grape variety can bring and using blending to create the best and most interesting wine we can.”
THE MOSAIC COLLECTION
The White Mosaic 2023
A fresh, textural blend of 34% Chardonnay, 33% Pinot Gris and 33% Pinot Meunier, naturally fermented together and aged on fine lees for six months. Bright and creamy, with stone fruit, strawberry and mango, gentle acidity and a subtle savoury finish. 11.5% ABV.
The Rosé Mosaic 2025
A blend of Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir, offering graceful aromatics and a palate lifted by subtle summer berries. 11.5% ABV.
The Red Mosaic 2024
A contemporary blend of 50% Divico, 25% Cabaret Noir and 25% Pinot Meunier, showcasing the potential of PIWI varieties in English wine. Aged for nine months in oak, it is rich with blackberry, damson and black cherry, with fine tannins and a smoky, savoury finish. 12% ABV.
Artelium has also released a single-varietal Cabaret Noir 2025, further showcasing the estate’s work with PIWI varieties. Bold and structured, “Cab Noir” reflects Artelium’s belief that Cabaret Noir could be a trailblazer for English still red wine, combining exciting winemaking potential with the sustainability benefits of a disease-resistant variety.
The Red Mosaic 2024 is the first to be released and is available direct from Artelium, priced at £28 RRP.
