Aiming to increase its retail presence via a second packaging option, Zevia debuted 12 oz. glass bottles in 4-packs at Natural Products Expo West, which recently concluded in Anaheim, Calif.
“There are a lot of upscale establishments, whether they’re natural products stores or fine dining restaurants, that want the bottle, and a 12 oz. glass bottle is a perfect solution for that,” said Zevia CEO Paddy Spence.
While cans remain the brand’s focus for their sustainability, low carbon footprint and high recycling rate, Spence said that some people prefer the taste of beverages from glass. He added that the glass bottles serve as a good option when entertaining friends and family.
“It’s a perfect complement to what we have on the can side of the business,” Spence said.
Of the company’s 15 flavors currently in cans, Zevia chose the six bestsellers for the glass bottles: Cola, Cherry Cola, Cream Soda, Ginger Ale, Ginger Root Beer and Grape.
The packaging addition comes as Zevia has tripled in size in the past two years, with demand still growing, according to Spence. The bottles will be available in the natural channel through distribution from UNFI and Nature’s Best.
In the video above, Spence said that Zevia’s main goal at Expo West was to serve consumers.
“There’s 100,000 people at the show,” he said. “Everyone is a potential consumer of our product.”
