ZERO Mandarin Melon Berry

Product Type:Juice: Juice Drink; Container: 14 oz Glass
BevNET Review: Mandarin Melon Berry is one of the initial two flavors that makes up the Holistics Zero line. From a flavor perspective, it?s definitely enjoyable, but we prefer the Wild Black Cherry variety to this one. The pink colored liquid has melon and berry notes, but we fail to see anything that qualifies as "Mandarin." Also, the stevia and erythritol blend doesn?t work as well as it does in the Wild Black Cherry variety ? it can be tasted in the body of the drink and leaves a slight aftertaste. Still, it?s among the better tasting stevia sweetened drinks out there. Functionally, this "herbal elixir" contains a bevvy of functional ingredients, including maqui berry, valerian root, chamomile, hibiscus, basil leaf extract, lemon verbena, and white tea concentrate. Like the other variety, they don?t tell the consumer what all this stuff is for or how it?s good for you. That being said, it makes us wonder why they put any of it into the bottle? Packaging is a 14 oz. proprietary glass bottle, which does a nice job of quickly identifying itself as a zero calorie product. However, the monkey brand, naturally sweetened, and functional aspirations of the product seem to be out of synch with each other. Overall, the flavor is very enjoyable, but clarifying the product?s branding and positioning would help it.

ZERO Wild Black Cherry

Product Type:Juice: Juice Drink; Container: 14 oz Glass
BevNET Review: Of the two initial flavors that make up Adina?s "Holistics Zero" line, Wild Black Cherry is our preferred flavor. It features a very pleasant tasting black cherry flavor, which they?ve sweetened with erythritol and stevia. With a very natural sweetness and minimal aftertaste, it?s definitely one of the best tasting stevia drinks that?s currently out there. Another thing that?s enjoyable about the product is its light mouth feel, which, given the dark red color, was somewhat of a surprise. Beyond having enjoyable flavor, Adina appears to be trying to do a lot with this product. At least that was our impression after reading the copy on the bottle and the ingredient list. There?s a lot of stuff in this product, including resveratrol, chamomile, valerian root, hibiscus, basil leaf and a host of other functional ingredients. Aside from describing the product as an "herbal elixir," there?s no mention of what this product is going for. The question is, are they attempting to be responsible by not making a ton of functional claims or did they just forget to connect the dots? On the packaging front, the 14 oz. proprietary bottle is unique and easy to spot as a zero calorie product ("zero" is in big block letters). The monkey theme is a playful mascot, but it seems slightly out of place for a stevia sweetened herbal elixir. Overall, we love the flavor and are confident that people who try it will like the taste, but we feel like they could do more with the branding (perhaps being more forward about the taste of the drink) to help it pull better from the shelf.
