Distribution Roundup: Caliwater Adds Stater Bros. Markets on West Coast; Mananalu Enters Grocery Space With Sprouts Farmers Markets

Caliwater Expands into Stater Bros. Markets Across Southern California

After launching last year, Caliwater continues to expand its retail presence, most recently entering Stater Bros. Markets across Southern California.

The Los Angeles-based brand, founded by actors Vanessa Hudgens and Oliver Trevena, hit store shelves earlier this month in Ginger & Lime and Wild Prickly Pear flavors.

“We are so thrilled to be able to continue to bring our cactus water beverage to new customers and areas of California, as Stater Bros. is a California staple. Especially timed to festival season, this launch could not be more perfect,” Hudgens and Trevena said in the release.

Initially launched on ecommerce in Spring 2021, the agreement with Stater Bros. Markets marks an important step in the expansion of Caliwater’s retail footprint. Earlier this year, the brand also picked up other retailers across California including select BevMo!, 7-Eleven, and Bristol Farms locations.

Hudgens previously told BevNET at Natural Products Expo West last month that the brand will release a new kid’s line sometime later this year.

Caliwater is now sold across the West Coast at niche retail chains, specialty beverage retailers and supermarket chains including Erewhon, Bristol Farms and Stater Bros. Markets and on the East Coast via ShopRite, Fairway Markets and Gourmet Garage.

Sanzo Launches in Target Stores Across California and the Northeast

Sparkling water brand Sanzo launched into 200 Target stores across California and the Northeast this week, Sanzo founder and CEO Sandro Roco announced in a LinkedIn post earlier this week.

Most recently, Sanzo expanded into Whole Foods Market stores nationwide last month with its Lychee, Yuzu with Ginger, Calamansi and Mango flavors.

SWAY Energy Partners With Albertsons and Safeway

SWAY Energy Corp. has landed a deal with Albertsons/Safeway, the brand announced in a press release earlier this week.

According to SWAY Energy Corp. CEO, founder and chairman Raj Beri, the initial launch is slated to take place in major cities including Denver, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Chicago, Seattle, Portland and metropolitan areas of Northern and Southern California before expanding elsewhere. The launch will include four flavors: mango, orange, passion fruit and watermelon.

“We believe everyone can be their best. That’s why we pride ourselves on creating SWAY energy drink, suited to those who seek a healthy and clean energy boost,” Beri said in the release. “Now, thanks to this new partnership with grocery giants Albertsons and Safeway, we can reach a greater audience and distribute SWAY to the health-conscious, mainstream consumer.”

With this new expansion, SWAY will soon be available in more than 1,400 additional stores across the country.

Mananalu Enters Grocery Space with Sprouts Farmers Markets

Mananalu, the aluminum bottled water company founded by actor Jason Mamoa, has entered the grocery space with Sprouts Farmers Markets, marking a shift in the brand’s overall sales strategy.

Encouraging consumers to ditch their single-use plastic water bottles for Mananalu’s “infinitely recyclable” aluminum bottles, the brand is on a mission to fight plastic pollution.

“Our entry into the grocery space represents an important step in Mananalu’s mission to eliminate single-use plastic water bottles, and we are thrilled to have found a partner that shares our commitment to this important cause,” said David Cuthbert, CEO of Mananalu, in a press release.

The company’s partnership with Sprouts dovetails with its latest social media campaign, #makewaves, which encourages consumers to make the switch to Mananalu’s aluminum bottles.

Mananalu is now available in over 380 Sprouts locations nationwide.
