Califia Farms Better Half: Original

Califia Farms Better Half, which comes in both Original and Unsweetened varieties, is the company's take at a dairy-free coffee creamer. Of the two, the Original, which is sweetened with sugar, was our favorite. Blending almond milk and coconut cream makes for a winning combination that is better than each on its own. It’s subtle, but rich, with the mellow nutty flavor of almonds being immediately followed by a quick note of coconut. While the product is sweetened, it’s definitely not sweet, and a final note of salt provides a nice finish. It definitely works as a creamer, but we could very much drink this product straight as well. Packaging is a SIG Combifit, which, as far as screwtop carton containers go, is a great looking and well-executed format. Califia has done a nice job with the graphics, which feel like a modern take on a dairy package. It’s a nice approach for a brand that is trying to take its dairy-free offerings into a new segment. The product definitely feels polished and credible, which is certainly a plus. Overall, this is an innovative offering from Califia, and we feel as though the company has done a superb job with it.
