Califia Farms: Vanilla Protein Almondmilk

When sampling protein drinks, it’s rare that anything other than chocolate comes out on top when it comes to flavor. But in the case of Califia Farms’ protein-infused almond milks, it was the Vanilla Protein that’s the best tasting of the pair. It all starts with the base of almond milk, which provides a very light, nutty backdrop to the mellow vanilla flavor that the company has added. Neither flavor is very strong or sweet (the product has only 13g of sugar per bottle), which makes this product something that is very easy to gulp down. The protein, which comes from lactose-free milk protein isolate, doesn’t impact the flavor in any way (although having more than 8g would definitely be nice). While we don’t see this being a protein drink for the hardcore protein drink consumer, it’s definitely a very mainstream effort that delivers modest protein without compromising flavor. Packaging is the same 10.5 oz. bottle that Califia Farms' is using for its other single serve efforts. Between the all-white packaging and the design treatment, it definitely feels very similar to a dairy product. If it’s the mainstream consumer that the company is after, this definitely seems like a smart approach. Overall, a very well-executed product from Califia Farms.
