BevNET Review

This variety of Cawston Press is made with a blend of 12 percent rhubarb juice and 8 percent pressed apple juice along with sparkling water, sugar, malic acid and vitamin C. Rhubarb isn’t exactly a traditional American beverage flavor, but it’s both very tasty and fits with the theme of this being a U.K. import. The flavor is sweet and fruity, with the rhubarb really taking center stage. It’s tangy and sour and has a flavor that is reminiscent of pie. Unlike some of Cawston's other flavors, you really can’t taste the apple, which is a nice change of pace. All in all, we really like this variety, and it’s definitely one of the standout flavors. From a packaging and branding perspective, this product is something that definitely stands out from the competition. The company has decorated the front of the white can almost exclusively with text. Your eye immediately goes to the word “rhubarb,” which creates both some intrigue and a vibe of sophistication. We’re generally not super fond of designs that rely almost exclusively on text, but this one feels successful in terms of both its overall aesthetic and ability to communicate what it is. Overall, we really like what Cawston has created and both the flavor and branding are top notch.
