BevNET Review

Clover’s namesake product (and presumably flagship flavor) is a raw (non-pasteurized, non-HPP) green juice that’s made with kale, cucumber, celery, spinach, pear, cilantro, mint, and lime. While the ingredients sound pretty similar to what you typically see in a green juice, the company has done a nice job of coming up with a unique and well-executed flavor profile. The key differences are pear, rather than apple, and a nice hit of cilantro to give the product some zing. Otherwise, you can taste mint, lime, kale and celery, which, combined with the pear and cilantro, result in something that’s complex, but rather mild, in its overall flavor. Plus, we found this product to be quite refreshing, which isn’t something that we can say about all too many green juices. As for the packaging and branding, the product uses the 16 oz. bottle that has become ubiquitous for retail juice shops. Clover's approach is one that’s pretty familiar: black and white printing on a clear backdrop. While it certainly looks nice and is easy to understand, it isn’t overly unique. At this stage of the cold-pressed juice category, we see that as something that could become an issue -- at least for those outlets that are trying to build a brand that can evolve beyond company-owned stores. Overall, this is a very nice start for Clover.
