BevNET Review

The only green flavor of the Half Pint line, Green Thing is probably the closest thing to a crossover flavor as you’ll find in this new line of kid-friendly and value priced ($3.99) HPP beverages. In terms of flavor, it’s quite palatable. The ingredients include apple, pineapple, banana, strawberry, spinach, lemon, mint and filtered water. The apple, banana, and strawberry flavors give the product a base flavor profile that’s on part with a standard smoothie. The lemon and spinach provide a subtle secondary flavor, but it’s light and, thanks to the sweetness of the product, quite kid-friendly. Lastly, you’ll find some slight pulp to the product, which, along with some slight thickness from the banana, makes for something that’s smoothie like but still much thinner than one of the mainstream brands. Nutritionally, the 8 oz. product has 70 calories, 1g of fiber, 1g of protein, 15g of sugar, and a variety of vitamins and minerals. Half Pint’s packaging is a nice evolution of the Daily Greens brand. For starters, the packaging is, at 8 ounces, smaller. But the label, which employs a color (in this case green) rather than the clear one that’s used on its flagship line, really makes the drink pop. Daily Greens has taken a very minimalistic approach to the design, which is a nice change of pace from the text-heavy labels that so many cold-pressed products have. In some ways, we even feel as though it’s superior to Daily Greens’ regular packaging. Overall, Green Thing is a very well-executed product and a great starting point for checking out the Half Pint line.
